EDIT: Do you convert the engines to premix, or run them with the injector?

Thanks.
For long rides we have implemented a host of solutions over the years depending on if the bike is premix or injected. We of course recommend airbox and injection system for long rides if at all possible.

Either way, one of these filled with either gas or premix, should help you extend your range a little.

Thanks.

Can't say I've ever seen that. I'll have to check it out.

Hünersdorff FuelFriend containers are good too. I use the 1 liter container for emergency refilling. It substitutes the undependable, digital fuel gauge. I refill it from the bike's fuel tap when i top up the tank. Easier than storing 20 liter army cans in the garage imho.

Haven't seen those before, like the shape of the container!

My son just picked-up one of these yesterday for his trip out your way.

He's leaving this weekend on his VFR800, by himself, to visit a friend in Santa Clara.

So now I'll have one to use for the Derbi on longer trips.

Thanks for the suggestion. I wouldn't have thought of it.

Default Cool it nowwwww

Since we had a heat wave over the long holiday weekend in SF it was inspiration to address Fumi running a little hot under the cylinder.

First up was to test the Thermostat which was indeed frozen as suspected. I used my "shop Pyrex", not to be confused with the "cooking" pyrex , microwaved some water for about 30 seconds and dropped it in with a thermostat I knew was in working condition.

Here are the two side by side, marking are a little different, both made in Fumi's homeland.

Here they are side by side in the hot water filled Pyrex, you can see the good one already opening.

And after about a minute.

Working thermostat in place and ready to manage my fluid flow!

Dud thermostat resigned to its proper place at the altar

With that addressed it was time to take a lunch brake and get something cool to drink for me and Fumi!

Fumi gets a nice cocktail of 3/5ths distilled water, 1/5th water wetter, and 1/5th Motocool "Expert" from our favorite liquid supplier! I get Vitamin water with Ice. Don't sip the wrong one!

Glad you got the thermostat issue corrected.
