Default Bats Track Attack Derbi

Over the last two years I have built two Bats race bikes from the ground up with CN Racing. The Aprilia rs50 that completed the 8 hour endurance race at grange and the KTM 65 that was slated to be our 24 hour race bike. We are overdue for our yearly build and getting to the track! This time I'm building a track bike for us to use and I think this will be my starting point for this build.

Default KTM Powa!

Digging through my parts locker looking for options to power the Track Attack Derbi and stumbled onto a KTM 85 power plant that was destined for another project long ago. Now I can put my stroker 50 EBE motor project away and focus on fitting this much more powerful beast!

When you come back to Grange let me know.
I'd like to come out and watch.
Cheers, Jeff

When we plan a trip to Grange you should dust off a set of leathers and ride with us

Default Pieces to the Puzzle

A quick visit this morning to Bats S.F. for more pieces to our track attack puzzle!
The Senda wheels currently on the bike will not be ideal for finding track rubber so these 17" Super Motard wheels are a must!

Next up is suspension and we happen to have a sweet front end that was originally on our Super Duper Motard currently residing at Bats L.A. These forks not only look great, but have the recommended modifications done to improve performance.

Here is a photo of the original notes from Josh at Derbi West detailing what was done with these.

More digging revealed a sweet "1lb lighter than stock" aluminum rear sprocket that will find it's way onto our rear Super Motard wheel. Good to know that if you ever want sprockets, Sprocket Specialists has the Derbi in their system and can churn one out!

This box of Derbi fasteners, brackets, and miscellaneous odds and ends will really come in handy! Also found a Christmas card from Derbi signed by the Derbi Gods:bat skeleton

I do not have a set of leathers.
I have off road gear, A* pressure suit chest protector, knee guards, boots etc that I used
when taking the SoCalSuperMoto scool.
Im not sure my Senda would stay alive for either an 8 hr or 24 hr race. It is bone stock right
now too.
Cheers on getting the BATS racer back on the track.
Jeff

Spent a few hours at Bats San Mateo today to finish up my Mito for sale and found a little time to strategize with CN Racing on how to fit the KTM motor. Looks like it will be pretty straightforward with a little cut of the swingarm and a few reinforced motor mounts.

Last week I decided to bite the bullet and order the Pro Race top end from Maxiscoot. It arrived within two days! Here is a pic of the kit:

Piston:

The kit included new studs which turned out to be a little longer than the stock ones:

Checked the gasket from my stroker bottom end to see if the ports will line up and it's pretty close!:
