Bat Signal Sexy Mito Hotness

I'm going to be posting some Sexy Mito Hotness action as the Mito receives some rather well earned attention. Periodically I'll post to this thread. : )

Enjoy!

To start off here is about the Sexiest piston you can get for the Mito. I got this little gem (see the velvet pouch) from the nice folks at jawzys who have an eBay shop, although you can call them directly and just order over the phone. I also ordered a new wrist pin bearing (I think we've learned that lesson well enough!).

Thumbs up Cold Seize Eliminator

Some of the Mito troubles originated because a previous owner decided it would be advantageous to remove the thermostat. Here in the Bay Area that was a death note as the cylinder never gets up to proper operating temp and results in a cold seize. : /

It's taken me months of effort although I've finally found and aquired a Mito thermostat. It needs a bit of clean up effort as it is used. Tomorrow night in lab I plan to test it to ensure that it opens at the proper temp. : }

Mowr:

I took the thermostat to class and tested it. I needed a thermometer that would go beyond 60°C. As the temp rose the valve cracked open at ~59°C, a little bit later than the advertised 55°C for the stock value, although this should be okay, and much better than running without one. :P

Arrow Precision

Stopped by the Bearing Agencies on 7th St. near Folsom and picked up some new wheel bearings for the Mito. I thought that I had gotten the correct ones and almost did...

Front wheel:
6005 x 2
Rear wheel:
6204 x 1
63004 x 1 (sprocket side)

Arrow Support Action

I've been looking for lift spools for the Mito. The stock ones are super light aluminum that thread into the wholes set in the swing arm. Unable to obtain the proper spools I was able to find some for a ZX something or another. Picked these up at Scuderia, and the 12x1.25 tap at the Bap Geon. The boss with the extension fit well enough, the one with out had to be filed to make room for the wheel adjuster.

Thumbs up Bandiera Cagiva!

This sweet banderia was ordered from Olivos Banners. The graphic is actually woven into the flag.

Talking GyroScopic Magic

Installed by JP, at Morgan Machine, into these magical wheels, which I received from MondoMito Rob, are the new SKF bearings. The front wheel comes in at about 9.5 lbs, and the rear at around 13 lbs. This upgrade will probably do more for the performance of the bike than any other single modification.

Cool Getting ahead...

Found on the UK eBay was this 200G head. This is the Mito domed top head with the lowest squish. It arrived in packaging that made it look like a loaf of bread. :P

Thumbs up Ame ga futta

It's raining today in San Francisco and H2O isn't the only thing precipitating. The DHL truck pulled up with a sweet package from the UK, and guess what was inside? That's right! Sexy Mito Bits! This time most of a top end including an inlet, reeds, 200H head, 37073 cylinder, power valve, and a thermostat. It was expensive to ship, and a bit pricy for a rider on a student budget although worth every penny spent. With the exception of a gasket set I now have all the bits I need to put the Mito back on the road! : )

Cool Rubber

Made a tiny amount of progress on the Mito today. I was down at Scuderia to get the tire action worked out on the GPR and brought in the front wheels to get the tire put on the SP front wheel. Next up the rear wheel. :P

This is going to be so sweet when this bike gets back OTR.
