Cagiva Mito opinions

I'm considering looking for a Cagiva Mito (later model), and wanted to hear some opinions from owners or people familiar with them.

Are they problematic?

Can you get what you need to keep them running?

Is the overall quality decent?

Another similar cycle I'd consider would be a newer Aprilia RS125 (2009) if it was able to be registered and plated.

What do you guys think?

They are both great bikes.

The build quality on the Cagiva Mito is amazing, but parts can be tricky to track down. Regular maintenance isn't an issue and there are top end parts still available. Cagiva Mito is a timeless design, original design before the 916, and is the rarer of the two. This is a bike that can be a showpiece or cafe runner.

The Spains No. 1 era RS125's are decidedly more modern in design and uses less special hardware, fasteners, mounts, etc. when comparing to the Mito. Parts are readily available still from Aprilia dealers making them easy to own. I would say the Aprilia is the better handling bike and better for regular riding. Being the most modern 125 available, it is the most refined to ride.

Comes down to if you want something really special or something you plan to ride more regularly.

Either one is appealing to me. I'd ride it mostly to and from work and on short runs out in the country.

Style-wise the Mito is the winner, but the RS125 has a look I like as well - with the exception of the "Spain's No. 1" livery which I don't care for at all.

A major concern is the ability to register and plate it in WI. I don't want to get something that I can't ride legally.

Where would you suggest starting my search? I just sold one of my cycles (1st gen SV) this week, and am saving for a 2-stroke 125 of some kind.

Not familiar with the laws concerning plating in your area, but I would think us in Cali have it the hardest.

A few of the places I look:
Facebook, search for groups for the bikes you're looking for and join the group to get updates and find people who may be able to help locate a bike.

Craigslist, need to search nationwide.

Aprilia forum, classifieds and also the RS125 forum.

eBay

Not sure how I can confirm that I can register and plate a Mito or RS in WI. I'll have to figure that out.

I have an idea of prices for RSs, but what would you say a decent Mito would be going for?
