Cosmetic derestriction starts with the "federalized" DOT tail light setup that forgoes the sexy built in light for an ugly POS hanging from the back.

Tried plugging in the light with the housing in place, but there is just not enough room to work with. Removing the housing took a little finagling.

N.O.S. EU tail light harness with bulbs included!

All Plugged in!

Plugs into the stock harness without modification!

Cut the bottom off the stock plate/light bracket and fabbed up an aluminum bracket to mount the plate, this is the new look!

Looks a lot better!

Thanks!

It's running really well, probably the quickest 50cc bike we've built so far. Ride video coming soon!

Spent a little more time on prepping Newd for the upcoming 2 Stroke Extravaganza show! Finished the rear light setup with some N.O.S. smoked signals that I picked up from S.F. Moto a while back on closeout!

With the rear lighting sorted it was time to start the front. Not sure if this is a D.O.T. thing or if they all come like this, but the extended signal lights in the front look awful. Luckily they are already smoked and will match the new rears nicely one the extender is removed.

Here is how it looks removed from the fairing

Just a little dead weight to remove!

Not only looks better, but shaved half a pound of weight off the front!

Next up, the headlights...........

Your visual clean-ups help a lot.

I have narrowed signal stalks and tinted lenses on my bikes in the past as well. They look terrible sticking WAY out there, but are a lot less noticeable when narrowed and tinted.

If you want to tint your stock lenses, try using Testors spray tint from a hobby shop (Ace Hardware even has it in this area) on the inside of the lens. It's runny stuff, so you need to spray light coats and let them dry a bit before adding more. It does run into the lower areas, but looks fine from the outside.

Good to know. I'm thinking to smoke the non driving side light and yellow the driving side light.

We ordered up some new tires for Newd when treats had their annual Memorial day sale since it was still on its originals. With Ari up in SF after riding his Harley here, we decided to take the wheels with us to CN racing to put on the new shoes.

New and old gettn all soft and warm in the sun.

New MC50's mounted up on the wheels with old tires in the background.

Test ride and mounted on the bike pics coming soon!

Are those the softest compound?

Are 16s still being produced? My Derbi has 16s, and the Avons that are on it are ok but not great.

We got the soft compound, not the super soft.

Not too sure on the 16" tires, but I see that Treatland has a few different width in the MC2 Moped race tires that might work.
